Howdy folks,
Greetings & salutations to all.
I am from Singapore and came to learn of this forum through the rolex reference page website.
I am an absolutle WIS and started collecting watches in 2000 when my dad bought me a seiko titanium which still run excellent time.
I have NEVER wanted to buy a rolex cos it’s really too expensive but since June 2007, I just can’t get the image of a SD outta my head. I think abt it everyday and it doesn’t help when this baby is featured in so many watch mags.
But I am held back by a few factors other than the pricing which seems to be increasing every 6months:
1) The weight of a SD seems to be a little too light for a watch of this price & make. The bracelet seems a little too hollow for my liking too. My daily beaters are the Sinn U1 and Seiko Monsters and I am so in love with HEAVY watches;
2) I’m also not comfortable with the thought of spending approx S$500 (or more) every 3-5years to send my SD for servicing; and
3) I once saw a scratched up SD and the owner claimed that it’s prone to scratches despite only using it for a daily watch. btw, the owner has a deskbound job and switches to a g-shock for outdoor activities. Is the SD really a scratch magnet like the Omega seamaster?
Is there anyone out there who can advise me on the am issues?
Many thanks in advance.
Best Regards
Henry
